Learn to knit a traditional heel flap and gusset with a rounded heel from a top down sock. This is a popular method of which there are many variations of, to further customize the fit.
Bring at least a half skein of worsted weight yarn and either double pointed needles, 32” or longer circular needle, two circular needles in the same size, or a 9” circular in the size that is a needle or two smaller than the ball band calls for.
We won’t be making a full sock, but you will learn about the various methods of small circumference knitting. You will end up with something that you can slide on your foot, admire, and appreciate the possibilities. We will talk about different aspects of sock knitting and you’ll leave with a sock calculator pattern.
You will need to know how to cast on, knit, and purl. You will learn how to knit in the round, slip stitches, decrease, and pick up stitches.
